Inside My Pre-Event Rituals: From Sauna Sessions to Sister Sleepovers
Welcome back to this week’s Weekly Wonders – your Sunday scroll for a little feel-good motivation, some wellness magic, and of course, the products and rituals that make my week.
This time, we’re taking a look at how I prepared for the VIP Style Awards last week.
I live for a black tie event – but one with a sister sleepover at the Intercontinental? Say less. For over a decade, my family’s been attending the VIP Style Awards. I still remember being jealous when I was too young to go, so now that I’m lucky enough to be there, it’s such a pinch-me moment every year.
This time around, I had the honour of being dressed by Halston in the most gorgeous oyster chiffon dress with silver detailing, and my second time being dressed by a designer, which feels extra special coming from my luxury retail days!
Here’s a little peek at how I got prepped:
Hair
A strengthening mask the day before is my go-to. I had a little aveda tester in my carry-on with me. I washed it the day before, so it was prime for styling (trust me, day-old hair is key!). Finished with Colour Wow Dream Coat and let Lola work her magic for those perfect, glossy waves.
Skin
Ice, ice baby – literally. I iced my face first thing, then a face mask to wake everything up, and stuck to my tried-and-true skincare routine. No new products on the day – no chances taken!
Body
I dry-brushed every day in the lead-up (my skin is obsessed with it) and kept up my sauna routine. Morning of? I gua shua’d my neck and shoulders for that lifted, glowy look. Oh, and very out of character, forgot my cleanser and ended up using a bar of Byredo soap. Luxe, yes, but my skin was so tight the next morning, so I went back to basics: cold water rinse and all the moisturiser.
